Description
Taps are used for cutting internal threads in predetermined holes. These perform best in materials where the cutting action results in chips which breakup readily and do not present problems of chip disposal. Taps are usually use din sets of 3 (taper, second and bottom). All taps are right hand. Taper – Used to provide a quick and easy start, but this will not cut the thread down to the bottom of the hole. Second – Used to increase the size of the cut. Bottom – Used for follow through right to the bottom to obtain full depth of thread.
